Give-A-Dime is just getting started, so we don’t have a lot of donors signed up just yet. (Join! Then invite your friends, family, and neighbors to join!) So, we don’t have a lot of funds yet to distribute. If we have 100 donors by the end of February, that would be about $300. While it could be good for someone, we want our first distribution to be more. A lot more.
So, what we’re going to do is set a first donation minimum of $30,000. Once we reach $30,000 in funds, we’ll do our first give-away! This could be 10,000 members giving a dime a day. It could be 5,000 members giving two dimes a day. Etc. Does that sound good? Let us know what you think in the comments, and make sure to sign up today if you haven’t already. Then invite your friends, family, and neighbors to do the same! With your active participation, we can be at our minimum giving level in no-time!

We’re often asked what kind of charities will be eligible for our collective gifts, so we put together a random sampling of charities that would qualify for consideration. In no particular order:
Electronic Frontier Foundation – The Electronic Frontier Foundation is the leading nonprofit organization defending civil liberties in the digital world. Founded in 1990, EFF champions user privacy, free expression, and innovation through impact litigation, policy analysis, grassroots activism, and technology development. We work to ensure that rights and freedoms are enhanced and protected as our use of technology grows.
North Texas Food Bank – The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is a top-ranked nonprofit relief organization, providing access to more than 170,000 meals each day for hungry children, seniors and families through a network of more than 1,000 programs and 200 Partner Agencies in our 13-county service area.
Books for Africa – A simple name for an organization with a simple mission. We collect, sort, ship, and distribute books to students of all ages in Africa. Our goal: to end the book famine in Africa.
And Justice For All – We believe access to justice is a fundamental right in our society. “AND JUSTICE FOR ALL” is committed to providing legal services, free of charge, for Utah’s most vulnerable citizens – people living in poverty, individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, minorities and victims of domestic violence.

Our mantra about giving at Give-A-Dime is, “Make it easy. Make it affordable. Make it fun.” Here’s how we accomplish the “Make it fun” bit.
Every month, we’ll post up three charities we’ve vetted for excellence in efficiency and effectiveness. You will choose the one that most touches your heart, stimulates your mind, or satisfies whatever criteria you personally use to determine the worthiness of a charitable organization. We’ll tally all the votes from you and your fellow charitable donators/voters and distribute the funds to each charity according to their rank. The cool thing is, each charity will get something! Nobody loses here.
Ultimately, what we’d love to do, is shoot video of each charity receiving their gift, then include some interviews and/or other material/media for you to enjoy. This is the fun part—watching your gifts being given away! Seeing the smiles. Hearing the stories. And knowing we all helped, even if just a little bit.
